Top Find: Dressing After A Stroke
Many of us stand in our closets in the morning staring at our racks of clothes agonizing over what to wear that day, but worrying about how we are going to get dressed never crosses our minds. For millions of stroke survivors’ dressing is a daily challenge. A task as simple as buttoning a shirt in the morning is physically exhausting if not impossible.
When Maura Horton, a former children’s clothing designer, watched as her husband struggled to button his shirts. At that moment, Horton says, “I knew I had to use my background in the fashion industry to find a solution for him.”
Horton developed an innovative fashionable dress shirt infused with a magnetic closure system, which solved the problem of difficult to navigate buttons making dressing independently a possibility again.
Says Horton, “I am incredibly grateful that I was able to create a shirt that not only gives my husband his independence back, but that can change the lives of millions of people.”
Decorative buttons grace the exterior of MagnaReady shirts for a crisp and professional appearance without the hassle of manipulating tiny buttons into buttonholes.
